Year 2

Welcome to Year 2’s family.

Our teaching team is Mrs Aldred and Mrs Anderson.

In Year 2 we are a working team, children, parents and staff. We aim to work alongside our Mission Statement in; taking pride in everything we do, being the best we can possibly be, and making a difference.

Our Catholic Faith is very important to us and we strive to ensure that we live out our Mission to the best of our ability every day. As well as this assembly, we also have the opportunity to join our local parishioners to celebrate Mass in Holy Family Church at the beginning of each month, one of which we will lead. Our faith permeates all that we do in school both through our lessons and how we behave and respond to each other in our daily lives. Our prayer focus is the focal point of our classroom, which we continually update to reflect the Liturgical calendar throughout the year.

In Year 2 we believe it is imperative for our children to be reading with their parents/guardians every evening. This will help reinforce the phonics, vocabulary and comprehensive skills the children will be learning in our classroom. The children will change books twice a week, on a Tuesday and Friday. Homework is also given out on Friday. Our homework is either to support our work within that week or helps us to remember our basic skills in Maths and English. Spellings are given out on a Monday to be revised every night. On Friday mornings until 9am we invite parents into the class to read with their child.

We look forward to working and growing together on our exciting learning journey in Year 2.
