Physical Education (PE)

Intent

At Holy Family Catholic School, our physical education curriculum is designed to be broad and balanced, aligning with and enhancing the aims of our school community. We strive to create an enjoyable learning environment that not only stimulates pupils physically but also nurtures their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Our curriculum provides equal opportunities for all pupils to engage in a variety of learning experiences across games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, and outdoor education. In doing so, we emphasise the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, promoting values such as community, respect, and stewardship. We encourage pupils to work collaboratively, fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility towards one another and the environment.

By integrating these values into our physical education programme, we aim to cultivate not only skilled and confident individuals but also compassionate members of society who are aware of their role in promoting the common good. In this way, our physical education curriculum contributes to the holistic development of our pupils, preparing them to lead healthy, active lives in alignment with our Catholic ethos.

In order to develop positive attitudes all children should:

  • Follow the conventions of fair play and honest competition.
  • Persevere with and consolidate their performances.
  • Be mindful of others in their environment.
