Years 1 and 2 were visited by Florence Nightingale.

She came to tell us all about her life. We learnt that she was born in Florence, Italy and then moved back to England when she was a child. She told us that she had a call from God to dedicate her life to nursing and pursued this career against all the odds. Florence travelled to the Crimean War and helped create a sanitised hospital for the soldiers to recover from their injuries. She returned to England to then set up the first professional nursing school at St Thomas’ hospital London.

Florence showed us pictures of her life, taught us a dance and we practised cleaning the hospital and bandaging the soldiers.
