Year 2 celebrated the feast day of their class saint St Josephine Bakhita.
The children discovered more about her life and looked at a map of the journey she took from Sudan to Italy. They learned about her life and the way she was treated as a slave and a refugee. They learned that she always treated others with dignity and care and was the doorkeeper at the convent welcoming others. They linked this to work about refugees and being a sanctuary school.
They wrote some facts about her life and prayed for workers and refugees around the world. They celebrated together and thanked God for this special saint.
St Josephine Bakhita said, “In God’s will, there is great peace. We must love everyone. We must be compassionate.”
