Year 2

Welcome to Year 2. Your teaching team this year is Miss Walker, Miss Weston and Mrs Anderson.

We link very closely with Year 1 to ensure consistency and to continue to move the children's learning on.

We strive to provide the children with a broad, balanced and creative curriculum catering to the needs of all children.

In our classroom you will find happy, engaged and enthusiastic children who are encouraged to reach for their full potential.

Our Catholic Faith is very important to us and we strive to ensure that we live out our Mission to the best of our ability every day. We participate in a class assembly each year. As well as this assembly, we also have the opportunity to join our local parishioners to celebrate mass in Holy Family Church at the beginning of each month, one of which we will lead. Our faith permeates all that we do in school both through our lessons and how we behave and respond to each other in our daily lives. Our altar is the focal point of our classroom which we continually update to reflect the Liturgical calendar throughout the year.

In Year 2 we are expected to read every day at home and in school to improve our fluency. We change books twice a week, on a Tuesday and Friday. Homework is given out on a Thursday and expected back on the following Tuesday. Our homework is either to support our work within that week or helps us to remember our basic skills in Maths and English. Spellings are given out on a Monday to be revised every night. On Friday mornings until 9am we invite parents into the class to read with their child. We have PE on a Friday with our sports coaches outside and our other PE lesson is on Wednesday.
