Year 2

Welcome to Year 2. Your teaching team this year is Miss Weston, Mrs Young and Mrs Anderson.

We link very closely with Year 1 to ensure consistency and to continue to move the children's learning on.

We strive to provide the children with a broad, balanced and creative curriculum catering to the needs of all children.

In our classroom you will find happy, engaged and enthusiastic children who are encouraged to reach for their full potential.

Our Catholic Faith is very important to us and we strive to ensure that we live out our Mission to the best of our ability every day. We participate in a class assembly each year. As well as this assembly, we also have the opportunity to join our local parishioners to celebrate mass in Holy Family Church at the beginning of each month, one of which we will lead. Our faith permeates all that we do in school both through our lessons and how we behave and respond to each other in our daily lives. Our altar is the focal point of our classroom which we continually update to reflect the Liturgical calendar throughout the year.

In Year 2 we are expected to read every day at home and in school to improve our fluency. We also complete homework each week to improve our comprehension skills and to help us learn key math facts like the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Our home readers are changed twice a week, on a Tuesday and a Friday. We have PE on a Friday with our sports coaches outside and our other PE lesson is on Wednesday.
