Welcome to Reception.

In Reception we will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, learning will be largely play based and child led.

Our classroom and outdoor areas are set up to engage and inspire the children, across all seven areas of the EYFS curriculum. The environment includes lots of letters and numbers to help children develop their reading and mathematical skills.

The active and engaging environment in Reception is designed to promote a love of learning. The children will take part in daily dance activities, phonics, regular baking activities, and weekly PE. Play will be directed to encourage the children to reach their next steps in learning, whilst maintaining a happy and stimulating classroom environment.

Our Catholic Faith is very important to us. Our alter is the focal point in our classroom and we update and reflect upon the Liturgical Calendar throughout the year. We will have a focus on kindness which will help the children with inter personal relationships, weekly Religion lessons will be adapted to the children's interests and needs to keep Religion at the core of our learning. This term we have been learning about St Blaise, the children have made pictures and taken part in role play to consolidate this learning and a display of this work can be found in the main school corridor. We participate in daily prayer and will join the school for weekly Assembly. We look forward to joining our local parishioners to celebrate mass in Holy Family Church after Christmas.

Parent workshops on Phonics, language and curriculum provision will be available throughout the year.
