Special Event - Space Mat Vocational Experience

17 May 2019

On Friday 17th May, Stan’s Café and KPMG visited Holy Family to work alongside the children in a special Space Mat Activity.

The children in Key Stage 2 all had the chance to take part and enjoy mathematical challenges to enable them to unlock the code of a suitcase on their space mat. This was a wonderful way of celebrating National Numeracy day, which occurred that week.

Stan’s Café designed and produced the mats based on a space theme. The children had to solve problems at each stage to eventually break the code and retrieve their reward in the suitcase within a given time.

The staff from KPMG were fantastic at supporting, guiding the children in solving the problems and succeeding to escape from the clutches of the aliens in space. Both the children and staff were so excited to get the chance to unlock the suitcase.

All our visitors spoke to the children about their important jobs and explained how math’s helps them in their role as well as the many other subjects that we learn at school. The staff really enjoy becoming involved with schools to help improve Literacy and Numeracy skills. The children also learned that God has an important job for everyone and that we are all unique and special in God’s eyes.

It is never too young to start considering your vocation. What is God calling of us today? How can we serve him in little ways?
